
Woke up wondering, “Could this be why I ain’t got no boyfriend…? The morning hair…?” If so, so be it! My creatures give me so much joy and bring into sharp focus my interconnected place in and responsibility to the big old web of life. The daily rituals we have, our communication and the truly unconditional love they give me keeps me grounded and joined to a bigger purpose in the world, even when I’m not quite sure what is next.
Reconstructing at mid-life can be overwhelming (and it inevitably sometimes is), or it can be an opportunity in so many wonderful ways. But creating a life at any point can be just that–an act of creativity. Lots of us would say we aren’t creative because we haven’t produced something like a painting or a novel or a musical composition. Creativity, however, exists on a continuum.
Some researchers in the field refer to great works as capital C creativity and everyday acts of problem solving or simply living life as little c creativity. In the posts you’ll find here, I’ll talk about internalizing the idea that life does not happen to us, but we shape life–or how we respond to what happens to us. I suppose most realistically, we create with life.
