This is Who I Am Right Now.

One of the hardest things I’ve had to learn is that nothing in life is guaranteed. You can try to control and prepare and be very, very good, but you still don’t get to control the outcome. Waiting for the ideal anything (financial grounding, body, partner, schedule) is also riddled with pitfalls. I’m not saying hard work and striving for excellence aren’t great practices or that we should settle for what a scarcity mentality will tell us is probably the best we can do. On the contrary, I think we say to ourselves, “This is who I am right now. Right here, right now. What is possible in this moment, and what are all of the possibilities I can open myself to moving forward?” And then, “What beauty and fulfillment can I find in this present moment and all the moments moving forward?” It’s not always easy to find the joy and sometimes not until there’s time to reflect on the moments that we can even experience the joy that was there. So much of it is perspective and being open to having that shift within us. I continue to learn—in fact, am deep in it—to listen to my life and make those incremental changes to shift course and flow with the currents.
